The Policy of the Bloomfield Fire Department for 2010
The following is the current policy of the Fire Dept. regarding the response to rural fires in the Bloomfield area. The Stoddard Co. Emergency Management, E-911, has assigned us a specific area.
(This does NOT apply to residents in the city limits)
Attention-If you live or own property in the Bloomfield Rural Fire District
Homeowners/land owners/churches
1st and adjoining property………………..$50.00
2nd property………………………………$30.00
Each additional Property…………………$20.00
Commercial/Rental Property
1st property……………………………….$70.00
Each additional com. Property…………...$30.00
Due to mobility of personal property, such as automobiles, trucks, and equipment, personal property will only be covered when located on owner’s property for which fees are paid. Please designate property locations you are paying fees for (i.e. home, farm land etc with 911 addresses when possible) you may
mail your check to the address above or drop it off at Bloomfield City Hall.
Notice* Property owners are responsible for the fees.
· The fee is not reduced or pro-rated if someone moves to the rural Bloomfield area or purchase Property in the middle of the year.
· The fees are payable By January 1st of each calendar year
· Churches are not exempt from paying the fee.
Charges for non-members
· The charge for the fire department responding is $ 1,000.000
Advantages of Membership:
*No matter how many times during the year the Fire Dept. is called to your rural home or property,
NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE WILL BE ASSESSED IF THE MEMBER FEE IS PAID.
· By maintaining a Fire Dept, insurance rates are kept down.
· A fire report will be available to your insurance company for each fire.
· Insurance companies usually pay only up to $500.00 for the fire call and the property owner is responsible for anything over that amount. Your membership covers ALL fire calls to your residence.
How to report a fire:
· For the quickest response- Dial 911
· You may also call the Stoddard Co Sheriffs Dept at 573-568-4654 and they will page us out. We are dispatched from the Stoddard County E-911 and the Stoddard Co Sheriff’s office. Be prepared to give accurate directions to the scene of the fire, including address and the name of property owner and or resident.
· Remain calm
· If further information is needed give it as quickly and clearly as possible.
· NON-Emergency calls call Bloomfield Fire Department at 573-568-4300
To cut down on unnecessary calls from people driving by your field or land, call the Stoddard County Sheriff’s department at 573-568-4654 before you start your controlled burn. Let them know when and where you will be burning. They in turn the Sheriff's department will get more information from callers to make sure we are not responding to your controlled burn. We responded several times to rural fires last year only to find the landowner burning his field or trash. This cost the landowner and the fire department time and money. Please remember to burn safe and responsibly.
Remember fire in unpredicticable it can strike at any time and for this small fee you can feel more secure in fire service. This is your fire department. With your support we will be able to provide you with adequate protection. We wish to express our thanks for the support you have given us in the past and hope that we can count of your continued support.
